OENANTHE PIMPINELLOIDES

Common Names:- Corky-fruited water-dropwort

Synonyms:- None

Meaning:- Oenanthe (Gr) Wine-fragrant-flower.
                  Pimpinelloides (L) Resembling pimpinella.
               
General description:- An erect plant, with simple stem up to 100cm. high.
Perennial root, with many, small tubers.

Leaves:- Basal leaves subdivided into wedge-shaped or ovate leaflets, divided
again into lobules. Stem leaves divided into narrow, parallel-sided to lance-
shaped leaflets.

Flower:- Creamy-coloured. Umbels with 6-15 rays, without bracts.

Fruit:- Cylindrical, 3mm. 

Habitat:- Damp localities of montane and sub-montane zones.

Distribution:- Widespread and common throughout the Mediterranean.
Widespread but not common on Crete.

Flowering time:- May-June.
