SPECIES DESCRIPTION
OENANTHE PIMPINELLOIDES subsp PIMPINELLOIDES
Including:- Subsp. incrassans,
Distinguished from Subsp. pimpinelloides by;-
1) Swollen fruiting rays.
2) And a generally more robust habit.

Common Names:- Corky-fruited water-dropwort

Homotypic Synonyms:- None

Meaning:- Oenanthe (Gr) Wine-fragrant-flower.
                  Pimpinelloides (L) Resembling pimpinella.
               
General description:- Glabrous, sparingly branched perennial.

Stem:-
1) Up to 100 cm. solid,  angular or grooved, with many, small tubers.

Leaves:-
1) Basal, 2-pinnate with ultimate segments ovate, incised-crenate.
2) Cauline, 1- or 2-pinnate with the ultimate segments linear.

Flower:-
1) Umbels, with 6-15 rays, without bracts, creamy-coloured.
3) Peduncle, longer than the rays.
4) Rays, 6-15, thickened in fruit.
5) Pedicels, thickened in fruit.
6) Styles, erect, almost as long as the fruit.

Fruit:-
1) 2.5-4 mm, cylindrical;

Key features:- 
1) Rays and pedicels, thickened in fruit.
2) Lobes, of basal leaves incised-crenate;
3) Stem, solid.

Habitat:- Marshy habitats. damp localities of montane and submontane zones. 0-
1200 m.

Distribution:- S Europe and SW Asia. Limited distribution on Crete.

Flowering time:- (Apr-)May-June(-July).
