Common Names:- None

Homotypic Synonyms:- Scandix latifolia, Cachrys cretica.

Meaning:- Lecokia. Meaning unknown.
                  Cretica (L) Cretan, from Crete.
               
General description:- Glabrous perennial with thick, fusiform roots.

Stems:-
1) 40-90 cm tall, terete, solid, sparingly branched.

Leaves:-
1) 1- or 2-pinnate, ultimate segments, 3-8 cm, oblong-elliptical, serrate.

Flower:-
1) Umbels, with 6-10 subequal, rays and with a single bract or none.
2) Bractlets, few, subulate.
3) Petals, white.
4) Sepals, small.
5) Styles, erect.

Fruit:-
1) 10-12 mm, slightly compressed laterally, ellipsoid to narrowly ovoid, brown,
    ridged, covered with hooked spines and crowned.

Habitat:- Deciduous woodland and damp, shady and rocky places by streams and
in gorges. 100-1500.

Distribution:- Rare in the Aegean region. - Scattered throughout Anatolia to
Cyprus, W Syria, Lebanon and N Iran. Limited distribution on Crete mainly around
the four main massifs.

Flowering time:- (Feb-)Mar-Apr.
