Meaning:- Ferulago (L) Ferula-like.
                 Thyrsiflora (L) With thrysoid inflorescences

General description:- Robust, glabrous perennial.

Stem:-
1) To 120 cm tall.

Leaves:-
1) Lower, very large, triangular in outline, several times ternate into linear-
    setaceous segments, 30-50 mm long.

Flowers:-
1) Umbels, closely aggregated into a complex, thyrsoid panicle.
2) Bracts and bracteoles, several, narrowly lanceolate.
3) Rays, 10-15, subequal.
4) Petals, greenish-yellow.

Fruit:-
1) c. 8 mm, narrowly elliptical, with narrow lateral wings and obtuse, filiform dorsal
    ridges.

Habitat:- Crevices and ledges of limestone cliffs, usually in gorges. 0-800 (-1200).

Distribution:- Cretan endemic mainly W. and C.

Homotypic Synonyms:- F. insularis

Meaning:- Trachycarpa (Gr) Rough fruit.

General description:- A tall, glaucescent perennial, resembling F. thyrsifolia but
differing in the following characters:-

1) Shorter leaf segments.
2) Robust and narrow inflorescence.
3) Indurate fruiting rays, as well as details of fruit anatomy.

Habitat:- As for F. thyrsifolia

Distribution:- Previously unrecorded from Crete. Discovered by Christopher
Cheiladakis & Giannis Kofinas Kallergis in the Dikti massif in July 2024
