RANUNCULUS RADINOTRICHUS

Meaning:- Ranunculus (L) Little-frog, diminutive of rana, (reference to the water-
loving habit of many species).
                  Radinotrichus (L) With ray-like hair, with spreading hairs.
                
General description:- Rhizomatous perennial with thick, fibrous roots.

Stems:-
1) 4-7 cm at anthesis, up to 12 cm in fruit, erect, simple

Leaves:-
1) Basal, somewhat broader than long, divided into 3 obovate segments shallowly
    lobed or dentate at the distal end, densely white-sericeous.
2) Cauline, 1 or 2, inconspicuous.

Flowers:-
1) Solitary.
2) Pedicel terete.
3) Sepals, patent. pilose.
4) Petals, 7-10mm broadly obovate bright yellow..
5) Honey-leaves, 7-10 mm, broadly obovate.
6) Receptacle pubescent.

Fruit:-
1) Achenes, orbicular, compressed, smooth, glabrous;
    a) beak, 1·5-2 mm, circinnate.

Habitat:- Temporarily damp spots on rocky limestone slopes and screes. 1800-
2300 m.

Distribution:- Endemic. Rare and local to the Lefka Ori.

Flowering time:- (Apr-)May-July.
