Meaning:- Glebionis. Meaning unknown.
                  Coronaria (L) Crown-material.
                            
General description:- Herbaceous plant, hairless (glabrous) or slightly hairy. with

Stems:-
1) 20-70(-80) cm, branched, erect to ascending stems, sometimes pubescent.

Leaves:-
1) Alternate, oblong to obovate, 2-pinnatisect with oblong or lanceolate,deeply
    incised-dentate segments semi-amplexicaul, glabrous or slightly pubescent.

Flowers:-
1) Either entirely golden yellow, or yellow at the base of the ligules and white at the
   periphery, joined together in a capitula from 30 to 60 mm in diam.
2) Involucre (13-)15-18(-20) mm diam;
   a) outer bracts ovate, with a brownish marginal band and a narrow, whitish thin,  
       scarious margin.
   b) inner without a marginal band but with a wider scarious margin and rounded 
       scarious apical appendage.
3) Pedicel thickened under the flower head.

Fruit:-
1) Achenes ± dimorphic, angled and winged; pappus lacking.

Key features:-
1) Leaves (except the lower) 2-pinnatisect.
2) Achenes of ligulate florets with an adaxial wing.

Habitat:- Sandy and gravelly coastal habitats, roadsides, olive groves, often
gregarious on wasteground in towns and villages. 0-1100 m.

Distribution:- Widespread and common throughout the Mediterranean and SW
Asia. Widespread and common on Crete.

Flowering time:- Mar-June.
